NXT Champion Finn Bálor vs. Kyle O’Reilly

* Finn Baylor unquestionably defeated a member of the ERA to win the NXT Championship for the second time. Now he has to go through another to maintain it. Blor will defend the NXT title against Kyle O’Riley in NXT Takeover 31. The Prince has resumed his throne atop the brand of black and gold after a two-week marathon that emerged from the previously deadly 4-way 60.

The match in a tie with Minute Iron Man Adam Cole. Then, Blor once again topped the undisputed ERA leader in an undisputed classic the following week, making it once again to capture the NXT’s most prestigious award. JudgedReilly went through a tough test of its own to emerge as the No. 1 contender.

The skilled martial artist kept four other men alive in the first Gauntlet eliminator match to earn their chance at the title. As a three-time NXT tag team champion, O’Reilly knows a lot about hoisting gold at NXT. But capturing his first singles championship without the rest of the undisputed ERA – and doing so against one of the most skilled superstars in NXT history – will likely prove to be the biggest obstacle he has faced. Is Belore’s reign just the beginning, or is the defenseReilly ready to surprise the Prince? Learn by tuning into NXT Takeover 31, live streaming on Sunday, October 7 at 7 ET / 4 PT on the award-winning WWE Network.

# NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai vs. Candice LeRae

* Candice Lera is finally getting the opportunity she is looking for: the NXT Women’s Title. Zone Pixie is set to go one-on-one with Io Shirai for their championship at NXT Takeover 31. Since a drastic change in attitude earlier this year, LeRae has repeatedly cried to “pass”. Believe that he is entitled.

After winning the Battle Royal on the NXT by ending Shotzy Blackheart to earn this match, it would be retained for LeRae against Shirai or closed. Sky’s talent has become unstoppable since Charlotte Flair and Ria Ripley were elevated to the top of the NXT, stripping away qualified picks from the likes of Dakota Kai and Tegan Knox.

But in LeRae, she experiences an opponent unlike any she has ever faced – not to mention the person who is ready to go to any length to achieve victory.

LeRae showed that he brutally attacked the knee backstage after Knox’s surgery before Battle Royal. Will LeRae prove that he was right all along? Or will Shirai maintain her dominance as the champion? Streaming on the award-winning WWE Network at NXT TakeOver 31, Live Sunday, October 4, 7 ET / 4 PT!

# NXT North American Champion Damian Priest vs. Johnny Gargano

* Damian Priest wants to remain in infamy as the NXT North American champion, but he will have to hand over the title to defeat one of the brand’s most adorned superstars in Johnny Gargano. William Regal announced on social media that Johnny would wrestle for the October title at The Army of Infamy NXT Takeover 31 on Sunday. 4.

Gargano has been vocal about his and his wife Candice Lira’s plans to bring back gold to Gargano’s house. Priest, on the other hand, is defending his first successful title after a grueling victory over Timothy Thatcher.

The first-time champion captured the title in a counter-dropping NXT North American Title Ladder match at NXT Takeover XXX. At the crucial moment of that match, Priest and Gargano found themselves atop the ladder.

Gargano felt he would not win the title, but Priest acted strongly and dropped Johnny Wrestling to the stairway to secure the victory. Can Gaganu get better in a face-to-face fight? Or will the priests prepare for another infamous takeover title ceremony?

# NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar vs. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott

* Santos is the only man to defeat Escobar since Isaiah “Swarms” Scott Escobar came to NXT. Can NXT take a third time in Takeover 31 to “sweep” from the leader of Legado del Fantasma and become the NXT Cruiserweight Champion? Scott defeated the then masked Escobar during the NXT Cruiserweight Title Tournament and later pinned him in a Six-Man Street Fight with Brijango against Legodo Fantasma.

But when it came time for Scott’s first title opportunity, Escobar wore him while a loaded lacquer mask appears to retain his championship. With a second chance advantage, will Scott make the NXT Cruiserweight Division a “Swords House”, or will Escobar’s rule continue? Be sure to tune in on NXT this Wednesday night as we will hear from both the champion and the challenger.

# Kushida vs. The Velveteen Dream

* Velvet Dream has shown a new approach to loathsome since its return. Along the way, he made Kushida an enemy, hinting at the unseen before the NXT’s resident time splitter.

Will Kushida regret Dream when he squares off on NXT Takeover 31?

His Purple Highness made a surprise return to the Black-and-Gold brand last month, but cameback to a Triple Threat match involving Kushida and Cameron Grimes.

Sapna overcome her frustrations with a post-match attack. Kushida returned with force, attacking Weleventh Dream Week, and thanked him for a ferocious rope-supporting cross armbreaker on the NXT injury report. He also showed an all-business attitude, defeating Austin Theory in short order.

Then, Dream took an already flammable position and when he gave Kushida an opportunity for a possible NXT title, he dumped petrol on everyone. While interfering in the first Gauntlet Eliminator match, Dream provoked Kushida with the Dream Valley driver, ending him. Now, Kushida gets a chance at Payback.

Will NXT’s time splitter seize the opportunity, or will it be a dream over? Streaming on the award-winning WWE Network at NXT TakeOver 31, Live Sunday, October 4, 7 ET / 4 PT!
